Notice is hereby given that the Isle of Wight County Board of Supervisors will hold a Public Hearing on Thursday, July 16, 2020 to consider the following application:

The application of Hampton Roads Sanitation District, applicant and Isle of Wight County, owner, for a Conditional Use Permit on approximately 1.5 acres, located on tax parcel number 13B-02-A009, on Blount’s Corner Road (Rte. 674) The purpose of the application is to allow for a major utility service consisting of a regional pump station and one million gallon storage tank.

Copies of said application are on file in the Department of Planning and Zoning at the Isle of Wight County Courthouse Complex, Isle of Wight, Virginia, and are available for public examination.

Any person desiring to be heard in favor of, in opposition to, or to express his or her views with respect to said application may appear before and be heard by said Board of Supervisors during the Public Hearing to be held in the Robert C. Claud, Sr. Board Room at the Isle of Wight County Courthouse Complex on Thursday, July 16, 2020. The public meeting is scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m.

The County of Isle of Wight is in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990. NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE TOWN OF SMITHFIELD AMENDMENT AND REVISION OF ZONING ORDINANCE

Notice is hereby given that the Planning Commission of the Town of Smithfield, Virginia will hold a public hearing at the regular meeting of the Planning Commission at the Smithfield Center, 220 N Church St, Smithfield, VA 23430, on Tuesday, July 14th, 2020 at 6:30 PM to consider the application of Town staff, applicants, for a text amendment to the provisions of Articles 3.L, 3.R & 10 of the Zoning Ordinance of the Town of Smithfield, Virginia, adopted Tuesday, September 1st, 1998, and as amended thereafter.

Specifically, the applicants are seeking a text amendment to migrate all signage regulations into Article 10, while also eliminating duplicate language. Additionally, the text amendment would bring Article 10 into compliance with the Reed, et al. v. Town of Gilbert, Arizona, et al. (2015) decision, while also relaxing the Town’s standards for temporary signage.

Copies of the current Zoning Ordinance of the Town of Smithfield, Virginia, adopted Tuesday, September 1st, 1998, and all amendments thereto, along with copies of the proposed revisions and amendments of the Zoning Ordinance are on file and may be examined in the Community Development & Planning Department, 310 Institute St, Smithfield, VA 23430.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE TOWN OF SMITHFIELD AMENDMENT AND REVISION OF ZONING ORDINANCE

Notice is hereby given that the Planning Commission of the Town of Smithfield, Virginia will hold a public hearing at the regular meeting of the Planning Commission at the Smithfield Center, 220 N Church St, Smithfield, VA 23430, on Tuesday, July 14th, 2020 at 6:30 PM, to consider the application of Town staff, applicants, for a text amendment to the provisions of Article 2, Section U of the Zoning Ordinance of the Town of Smithfield, Virginia, adopted Tuesday, September 1st, 1998, and as amended thereafter.

Specifically, the applicants are seeking a text amendment to remove the “professional office” use listed in Section 2.U.15.f as requiring a home occupation permit. Additionally, the proposed text amendment allows for professional office home occupations to enjoy client visits to the home in excess of what is normally associated with a single-family dwelling following the applicants’ successful acquisition of a special use permit from the Town Council.
